The Four Years From Now (4YFN) at the Mobile World Congress 2022 in Barcelona
Many enthusiasts in the world of technology have returned to MWC22. More eager than ever, after almost two years of pandemic, and despite the tough political moments that we are all experiencing.
In one of the 8 areas of this congress is what is known as the Four Years From Now (4YFN) where various start-ups make known their projects. Objective: to spread the word among the different interested visitors.
Most of us are aware that AI currently plays a fundamental role in many new companies. Taking into account that we can find this type of companies at events such as the Mobile World Congress, it is worth highlighting the multiple applications that it has in such diverse business fields.
Two key start-ups
Keeping in mind that there were many start-ups present in this shared space at the event, we will explain two of them which are related to the field of health and have enormous social impact where they apply AI to carry out their results.
Cancer Appy
First of all, Cancer Appy. This project, based on a digital platform that it provides to health centers, hospitals, laboratories, research centers... allows the detection of patients' tumor markers, giving results to specialists so that they can subsequently diagnose and treat different cancers. In addition, it also allows us to recommend possible treatments or drugs through the algorithms designed for the program for different diseases, streamlining the process. Used in this way, AI, machine learning and large-scale biology Cancer Appy allows us to find the best treatments and provide medicines to patients.
Medbionformatics
On the other hand, Medbioinformatics is another type of start-up designed for the potential development of medicines from genes to improve people's health. The program allows us to detect, from a detailed catalog of all the genes known from the database, the correlation of existing diseases with the different genes, characteristics and phenotypes. Thus, it is used to improve disease diagnoses, develop new treatments or predict individual susceptibility to having diseases.
AI, training required
It is not surprising, then, that these types of new companies, where there is still a lot of investment and impact left in the different areas of health as well as a greater impact, especially in the public health sector, need professionals from different areas. From specialists in disease detection, whether they are doctors, biologists, biochemists... to professionals trained to process specific data from the different platforms with AI.
In this way, we see how cooperation between team members is essential to achieve good results and generate the desired social impact. Not only trying to do what is specific to each person in their profession, but also being willing to understand other professional fields to cross borders and be able to generate a greater effect.
